My Favourite Liquid Lipsticks

The trend for matte lips doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon and I find that the best way to get the desired effect is by using a liquid lipstick. I love how they’re applied in the same way as lipgloss but give a modern finish and also avoid the ‘hair stuck to lips’ problem that you get with glossy formulas. I’d love to be able to afford to try a variety of high end versions but most of my go-to liquid lipsticks are affordable and fairly easy to get hold of. I’m not going to focus on the packaging as it does the job and it’s what’s inside that counts!

My favourite reasonably priced liquid lipstick has to be the NYX soft matte lip creams. They come in a variety of shades, from classic nude to royal blue and I’m so impressed with the formula. It feels smooth and moisturising on your lips, tastes like vanilla and looks pigmented too. It isn’t the longest lasting but I actually like reapplying fairly regularly and I can suffer that as everything else about it is brilliant! If you’re following me on Instagram I’m wearing the shade Berlin in one of my recent pictures, which is a dark brown with red undertones and seems to inspire a few compliments. The shade pictured is called Stockholm which is perfect for everyday wear

One mid range – higher end brand that I’ve tried is Kat Von D and these are definitely worth the extra pennies! The brand is now available at Debenhams and I ordered the Santa Sagre shade of Everlasting Liquid Lipstick online the day it launched in the UK (keen much?!) It did not disappoint as the colour packs a punch, it’s long lasting and feels pretty smooth on your lips. It didn’t notice it being drying either which is always a good thing.

Makeup Revolution are my favourite bargain beauty brand and I love that you can get their products in quite unusual shades like this Salvation Velvet Lip Laquer in Depravity. It’s great value for money and the colour looks great on application but it does start cracking up and wearing off fairly quickly. it looks fab in photos and is fine if you don’t mind reapplying it often but make sure you alternate with a bit of lip balm as it is slightly drying. Still great for the price though!

Another good value version is the MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer which smells like sweets, lasts a couple of hours and looks more expensive than it is. I have the shade Kooky which is a dark purple and ideal for winter. The only downside is that it’s the most drying of the bunch so lip balm at the ready! It also flakes off after a while, creating that unattractive ring around your lips but this is less noticeable with the lighter shades
