It was my birthday last Saturday so as a little family celebration we tried out The Shoeburyness Hotel which is a short walking distance from where we now live. The name is slightly deceiving as it used to be a hotel but is now a bar and restaurant, which was built back in 1899 and refurbished in 2012. The decor is both traditional and modern with a very cosy feel.
I chose the scallops to start which were delicious, followed by sirloin steak for my main, all washed down with a superb Pina Colada!
The staff were so friendly, chatty and welcoming which made our evening even more enjoyable. They even added a candle to my panna cotta dessert and sang Happy Birthday to me as they brought it over!
It was such a lovely evening and we’ll definitely be going back for more. I’d love to try their Sunday lunch one weekend and also just go to the bar one evening. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re ever in the Southend area or even to travel to as it isn’t far from Shoeburyness train station on the c2c.
